Can you imagine a wedding day that produces wedding photos that fill your home with real life art? Morgan and Adam knew this was possible when they chose the date, time, and mansion wedding venue to bring their wedding vision to life. Planning a romantically-themed wedding is just as much about the day itself as it is the memories we capture. See how this winter wedding day became a timeless event at The Duke Mansion Charlotte.
When searching for Charlotte North Carolina wedding venues, The Duke Mansion Charlotte truly stands out. I shot my first wedding of the year here in the middle of winter and the venue proved as amazing as advertised.
The Duke Mansion is an elegant, upscale venue in Charlotte, North Carolina serving as a beautiful spot for weddings! Set two miles outside of Charlotte’s epicenter, this 101-year old historic bed and breakfast also boasts over four acres of garden grounds. The couple utilized the variety of beautiful backdrops for their couples and wedding party portraits throughout the property.
The ceremony was performed at a church in the area and they finished the day with a reception at the Meyers Park Country Club. Announcing these two into their reception ballroom was a solo trumpet player leading them to the cake! The newlyweds then shared their first dance to music provided by a live band.
On your wedding day, I like to begin with the details. Part of providing a fly-on-the-wall documentary experience of capturing your day includes documenting your chosen details. These elements can include your wedding bouquet, accessories, wedding bands, invitation suite and a beautiful bottle of perfume. There’s never too small a detail to capture in painting a full picture of your day.
This is also why it’s so crucial to start your day off slowly by getting ready with your wedding party so that not a single moment is missed. Morgan elected to get ready with her bridesmaids while wearing cute matching PJ’s. The ladies enjoyed taking fun photos in Morgan’s suite at The Duke Mansion Charlotte. Its elegance was just perfect!
It also allowed us the chance to capture bridal photos with Morgan in a different white dress drinking champagne from the bathtub! Morgan and Adam then did a first look with personal vows followed by portraits together which included a visit from their pup! Their dog was also featured in figure form taking a bit out of their wedding cake! Morgan additionally did first looks with her bridesmaids followed by one with her dad.
Morgan went through several phases of her unique wedding clothes throughout the wedding day. It began with the ceremony and post-ceremony portraits where she attached a train to her dress and wore a wedding blusher veil.
Following this look, she switched into a wedding reception dress for the dance party. Morgan was the life of the party and these two are so fun and obviously so loved by their family and friends! I just loved photographing Morgan’s fun bright pink Prada shoes! (check out how this bride switched into a pink reception dress!)
Morgan also loves the look of film wedding photography so we included film photography in 35mm as part of their photos (see film photos below!). In addition to these personalized touches, these two added even more class to an already elegant wedding day. The wedding party wore all black with the groomsmen in black tuxedos and the bridesmaids in floor-length black gowns complimenting the silk formal style of Morgan’s dress.
They capped off the night with a Last Dance together alone in the ballroom followed by a getaway in a red vintage car. Starting the day at The Duke Mansion Charlotte set the stage for such a timeless and unforgettable time!
