Welcome to the Ocean Isle Beach wedding of an amazing couple Alex and Joe. This was truly one of the most unique and wild experiences a bridal couple could have. Deeply in love, Alex and Joe were not going to let a hurricane stop them from saying “I Do.” One look through their gallery of wedding photos and you will know exactly what I mean.
With a category 1 hurricane on its way, several of the vendors backed out of the wedding day. There was no way I was going to miss their special coastal wedding day. My second photographer and I drove through the night to make it to Ocean Isle Beach.
Alex and Joe live out west and desired to have their special day by the beach in North Carolina. They decided to host their guests in a magnificent, Hamptons-style beach house for a week-long celebration. Quality time spent with family and friends from sunrise to sunset. Imagine taking off your shoes and exploring together the stunning destination of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina is attached to the mainland by a bridge. Located southwest of Brunswick County along the coastal corridor of Wilmington and Myrtle Beaches. Known locally as the “Gem of the Brunswick Islands”, Ocean Isle Beach overlooks the beautiful, sparkling blue ocean. The quiet, beach atmosphere with plenty of activities, quaint shops and restaurants is a great option for bridal couples.
Alex looked elegant in a satin, fit and flare wedding dress with a deep, plunge v-neckline and puddle train. Pearl drop earrings and a fine gold and diamond necklace complimented her relaxed, up style hair. Joe wore a beige two-piece suit with a crisp, white linen shirt with tan shoes. The bridesmaid looked fabulous in soft blue-grey dresses and the groomsmen in beige suits.
Original plans to have the ceremony and reception outside were moved indoors. The gorgeous indoor area was white on white, with grey flooring in classic Hampton style. With breath-taking views and fantastic, natural lighting it was perfect for wedding portraits. Alex and Joe picked up local flowers to create beautiful centerpieces for the tables.
Guests created a standing runway aisle at the bottom of the sweeping staircase for the bridal couple to walk down. This coastal wedding was full of love and laughter as everyone rallied around Alex and Joe to make it the best day ever. Guests kindly went to the local grocery store and bought hot dogs and hamburgers for this very unique wedding reception. It’s not often you get wedding photos of a bride and groom saying “cheers” with their hot dogs.
Rain, hail or shine we were determined to persevere with this wild day. We only had 15 minutes to take wedding photos on the Ocean Isle Beach. After a tough day, these wedding portraits were a very special memory. They were emotional and fun. During the time on the beach Alex and Joe splashed through the waves, saw the incredible birds that flew as a group in the distance and had beautiful moments together shown in the images below.
As the beautiful pink sun set on the day Alex and Joe celebrated their love knowing they could weather any storm.
