Nia and Alan’s destination wedding in Mexico was nothing short of breathtaking. As their photographer, I had the privilege of capturing their love story from their engagement shoot in Malibu to their stunning wedding in Tulum. Nia met Alan when she hired him as the head chef of her vegan restaurant, and they fell in love and the rest is history!
Their wedding day started at a beautiful Airbnb in Tulum, where Nia and her bridesmaids got ready. The location was known for its stunning architecture and decor, providing a perfect backdrop for capturing those precious moments.
Nia had all of her bridesmaids wear shades of green, which perfectly complemented the lush greenery of Tulum. It was an excellent aesthetic choice that added a unique touch to the overall wedding theme.
The couple’s ceremony took place in an underground cenote called Cenote Suytun, located in Valladolid, Mexico. The ceremony was held at dusk, and the entire ambiance was nothing short of magical. The cave was lined with hundreds of candles, creating a surreal atmosphere. The solo violinist’s music echoed through the cave, adding to the already ethereal vibe.
As Nia walked down the steps into the cenote, Alan stood waiting for her at the end of the aisle. They chose to do a Mayan traditional ceremony, adding a unique touch to their wedding. During the ceremony, they said vows to protect their three sons, which was a beautiful and emotional moment. There was not a dry cheek in the place.
After the ceremony, we took some stunning photos with the couple on the center platform. The reception was held at the Hacienda Selva Maya, an ancient jungle villa with string lights, gorgeous arches, and hanging ivy.
The couple customized coconuts with their names and wedding date as party favors, and the guests enjoyed delicious margaritas, pina coladas, and other drinks. They served authentic Mexican food for dinner, and it was so delicious!! Nia and Alan own their own vegan restaurant called Sugar Taco in Malibu, California so the meal was completely vegan.
Nia and Alan’s reception was unique, as they kept it simple and intimate with only 48 guests. They had beautiful white roses and baby’s breath cascading the stairs and their head table, with mirror signage that added an elegant touch.
The couple’s reception was focused on spending time together, and they skipped many of the traditional wedding activities. They had heartfelt toasts and sweet conversations, making their wedding even more intimate and special.
As their photographer, it was an honor to capture such an intimate and breathtaking moment in time. I was thrilled to see how their love story unfolded, from their engagement shoot in Malibu, to their destination wedding in Mexico.
Overall, Nia and Alan’s wedding was a testament to their love story, as they celebrated their marriage with family and friends in the most beautiful setting imaginable.
