On a sunny California summer day this year, Jessica married Samson Reinhart, hockey star for the Florida Panthers. Samson had just competed in the Stanley Cup, but his true prize was marrying Jessica! It was such an honor to capture their summer wedding!
This day was undoubtedly one of the most stunning weddings I’ve ever captured! From the Ines Di Santo cape that Jessica donned, to the colorful Aperol Spritzes during cocktail hour, to the reception covered in lights–my creative heart was beyond fulfilled!
The details were immaculate with the string lights covering the entire reception space, the family-style tablescape designed with orchids, the all-white floral scheme, and the mismatched bridesmaids dresses. The addition of parasols was both a perfect touch and a practical response to the heat wave that came through! Parasols are a timeless wedding trend that’s truly one of my favorites. The whole day felt so romantic and timeless!
Hummingbird Nest Ranch, the couple’s mountain-view wedding venue, provided the perfect backdrop to so many remarkable moments. A location set in the Santa Susana Mountains just north of Los Angeles, it supplied gorgeous sunset views of California mountainscapes.
The mountain wedding venue is a great outdoor space also home to many picturesque local flowers and cacti. These two also incorporated the mountain feel by using travertine stone for the bar menus, welcome table, and other accents.
Only adding to the beauty of this summer wedding location was how I got to capture it. The couple loves a timeless and filmy style so all of their images were a mix of digital and 35mm film. Film photography is my love language so that made it easy to capture the highlights of the day. From the smaller touches to the bigger gestures, it was amazing to photograph in digital, film, and black and white!
Jessica chose to wear her Ines Di Santo cape for the wow factor during the ceremony and sunset bridal portraits. It certainly turned every eye in the venue leaving everyone’s jaw on the floor! To get full use of the cape, she also requested a few portraits of her sitting at sunset with the cape as a solo bridal moment.
It was evident the entire day how fashion forward Jessica herself was with her choice of summer wedding dress, Jimmy Choo heels, cape, reception dress, and all of the other details. Jessica chose her gown specifically after being inspired by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s wedding gown.
My favorite moment of the day was right before the bridesmaids’ reveal. The ladies had their eyes closed and were singing the song “Chapel of Love” by The Dixie Cups to the bride. Their singing and dancing portrayed their excitement for the day and love for the bride!
This wedding serves as the perfect inspiration for a summertime, modern California wedding and includes several timeless trends that brides will forever be searching for!
