All of my couples bring something different to the wedding day experience. I love the fact that each couple has their own take on what a wedding day should look like. Even though wedding days can visually hold similar aesthetics, every single one belongs to that client alone. That’s why I couldn’t resist this couple wanting their wedding day photos to prioritize the two of them enjoying moments to the fullest. See how we documented their day from every angle in this wedding day!

Wedding Details that Point to a Couple’s Priorities

The details made up the foundation that this wedding photoshoot was built upon. Starting with their wedding venue, the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta was where they spent the entire wedding day including the bride and groom’s getting-ready time. Both wedding parties were larger (21 total!) so they spent time together in their getting-ready spaces. The bridesmaids bounced on a fluffy bed with champagne in matching PJ’s (the bride wore white with feathers!) and the groomsmen posed together around the hotel with the couple’s dog, Kane!

So many details that were easy to capture were spread throughout the entirety of their wedding photography timeline! The bride wore blue heels with red bottoms for both her “something borrowed” and “something blue.” These and a gorgeous Dior perfume bottle added to the sweet touches of the day including handmade handkerchiefs gifted by the bride to her dad and the groom.

The beauty of Ann and Ben’s hotel wedding venue only added to the overall feel of their wedding photoshoot. I loved the chandeliers, marble floors and walls, gorgeous terraces, and the ornate decor. The hotel also offered an amazing ballroom for the reception decorated by candlelight with white florals and greenery.

Once the couple entered the reception, everyone was on their feet and swinging their napkins around their heads. They cheered them on for the entire song! The bride and groom took the stage several times throughout the evening grabbing the mic to sing and dance with everyone! The day was capped off by a bubble exit through the front grand staircase of the hotel.

 A Wedding Photoshoot to Match the Couple’s Vibe

When the photos are the most important part of a couple’s day, I just can’t help but give them exactly what they want! From the start, my style was a match for this couple’s expressed priorities: “I love your documentary style where you capture and prompt artful storytelling, candid moments and memories!”

The most important part of their day was getting as many photos of the two of them as possible. As Ann explained, “having beautiful, candid, documentary, vintage, romantic, filmy style pictures with Ben is what is most important to me.” I couldn’t wait to make this happen! Ann and Ben wanted to go all-out on pre-wedding photos so we did a pre-ceremony wedding photoshoot for several hours!

We started in the penthouse with the entire view of Atlanta from the 53rd floor. The couple’s dog, Kane, joined them for some of these photos and he was also included in the ceremony. This was followed by running all around the hotel using their various wedding photoshoot ideas down the hallways and on the golden elevators. The couple grabbed shots by the grand piano, on the terrace, and even playful photos with the gold luggage cart.

These wedding photos had funny moments with a pillow fight to more romantic shots on the entryway grand staircase. The bride and groom extended their wedding photoshoot even after the ceremony when the bride switched into a wedding reception bridal dress with sparkling Converse sneakers! We took SO many flash photos and film since we were indoors most of the day but it totally fit their vibe!

A Wedding Day in a Bride’s Own Words

For any couple’s wedding photoshoot I have them choose between two options. I can just be a fly on the wall in true documentary style or provide more guidance to ensure we get the very best shots. Both are true to my documentary, vintage-styled photos that tell the story of your day.

It was important to Ann and Ben to have guidance and the inclusion of film photography in 35mm due to their love of that old-school style! The bride loves how I “focus on moments that allow natural and candid movements” wanting to get those “candid, natural shots that look like stills from a movie.” We were international about putting them in the right spot and encouraging movement. They also checked off their list of shots that included a wedding champagne tower!

More than anything, the bride cared about “timeless photos and the memories I will have from them to look back on.” When the groom still cries seeing the bride walk down the aisle even after a first look and wedding photoshoot, I know that we have made the couple’s vision come to life!
