Engagement, couples and portrait sessions in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and along the North Carolina coast, with sessions in Charleston, Richmond, Washington, D.C. and beyond. We plan something you love to do together, and I take it from there.
Engagement and Couples Sessions
Engagements, anniversaries, a proposal, a just-because portrait of the two of you, and couples who want their session to feel like the start of the wedding story.
There is gentle direction when you want it, plenty of movement and room for the funny, unplanned parts. The photographs feel cinematic because they are real.
A session with me feels more like a short film than a portrait appointment. We pick a place and something to do there, a color story to dress in and a time of day with beautiful light, then I let the two of you be yourselves while I follow along.
Not a photoshoot, a scene
Before your session we choose a palette together, so your clothes, the place and the light all belong to the same film: butter yellow and linen, ocean blue and white, deep green and chocolate, or black and white for the city at night.
A color story, styled together
Grand architecture, long shadows and the quiet drama of an old building.
Chapel steps and old stone
Pick flowers as you go, wander off the path and let the wind do the styling.
Wildflowers and wide fields
Barefoot, laughing and a little soaked. The coast at blue hour is made for movement.
Straight into the waves
Coffee in hand, the dog leading the way and the whole city as your backdrop.
A city walk with your dog
Saddle up or simply walk them along the fence line while the light goes soft and warm.
Horses at golden hour
Tell me what the two of you love to do and we will build the session around it. Here are a few favorites to start the imagination.

Your session investment
A favorite bookstore, the place you met, the trail you hike every Sunday. Bring it to me.
Your own idea
A sailboat, a canoe or a dock at sunset on the North Carolina coast.
Out on the water
Windows down, scarves flying and a stop somewhere with a view.
A vintage car drive
At home, music on, flour on the counter. The most romantic room in the house.
Dance in your kitchen
Linen, good bread, something cold to drink and your favorite album.
A picnic and a record player
A flower farm or an open field, and a bouquet you gather together.
Pick a bouquet
Easels in a garden, paint on your hands and portraits of each other to keep.
Paint a canvas
Vintage bikes, a basket of flowers and a slow loop through the neighborhood.
Ride bikes through town
A few more to dream on
For something bigger, we can head to the North Carolina coast, the Blue Ridge mountains, Charleston, Richmond or Washington, D.C. Travel within North Carolina is simple to plan, and anything farther is quoted clearly before you book.
Most sessions happen close to home in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill: garden paths, old brick downtowns, open fields and university chapels.

Say hello
From the first idea to your gallery
Yes. I can hide in plain sight, capture the moment and then photograph the two of you right after. We will plan the timing and location quietly together.
Do you photograph proposals?
Yes, please. Pets bring real joy and real movement to a session. Just bring a friend or a leash plan for the parts where you want photographs on your own.
Can we bring our dog?
I photograph rain or shine, and a little weather can be beautiful. If a storm would put you, me or my gear at risk, we will find a new date together.
What happens if it rains?
Most sessions happen in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. I also love the North Carolina coast, the Blue Ridge mountains, Charleston, Richmond and Washington, D.C., with travel quoted clearly before you book.
Where do sessions take place?
Send an inquiry with your date and the place you have in mind. I will reply within 48 hours with availability and the session guide, and your date is reserved with a signed agreement and retainer.
How do we book?
That is my favorite kind of session. Tell me the idea, and I will help you plan the place, the timing and the props so it feels easy on the day.
Can the session include an activity, like horses or painting?
Yes. Film can be added to your session and is photographed alongside digital, so your gallery has both the texture of film and the reliability of digital.
Can we add film?
Sessions near Raleigh, NC start around $850 for up to 90 minutes at one location with up to two outfits, and travel sessions start at $2,750. Film can be added, and your session guide lays out every option clearly.
How much is a session?
Almost every couple says this. Because the session is built around something you love to do, there is very little standing and posing, and most people forget the camera within the first few minutes.
We feel awkward in front of a camera. Will that show?
Pieces with movement and texture that feel like you, in the color story we plan together. Your client portal includes a full guide, and I am always happy to look at options with you.
