This wedding day almost didn’t happen. Only two weeks prior the groom had to undergo unexpected life-saving heart surgery. Mani has dealt with major health issues his entire life which for a time left the couple unsure if they could even get married. Everyone wondered following his surgery if their big day would be postponed! Thankfully, the groom recovered quickly and these two were able to celebrate their unity with their closest family and friends! See how this couple’s nuptials miraculously came together at their Hotel Peter and Paul New Orleans wedding!
“It was such a blessing that it was so perfect. Mani’s strength, determination and love got him down the aisle. It made everything that much more important to us, that much more special. We celebrated big on our big day and we will always remember our journey to the altar.”
Asia and Mani wanted a unique New Orleans wedding. These personalized touches were evident all the way from the groom’s custom embroidered green suit matching the greens throughout the hotel, to the all-pink vintage wedding cake, all the way to including their beloved bulldog, Pig, in the celebration.
“We made our big day about us by incorporating some of our favorite things! Like our pooch Pig who ushered my mother down the aisle and was also featured on our cocktail napkins. We wrote our own vows, lit a unity candle and jumped the broom. After the ceremony we snuck away to spend 20 minutes alone together which was the perfect pause before the reception.”
The couple wanted a wedding that showcased their deep love for one another and matched their personalities. The inspiration for the day in the bride’s words was, “Us. We wanted the entire experience to feel like us. It was important that our guests experienced some of our favorite things and things we just thought were really cool.” The couple designed the day to be entirely reflective of them in every detail including the bride’s wedding dress.
As Asia shared, “I always wanted to wear my mother’s gown but she lost her dress due to a flood in our family home when I was young. It was important to me to nod to my mother’s dress so her wedding gown was also an inspiration for mine.”
Asia and Mani’s wedding took place in Hotel Peter and Paul New Orleans, a wedding venue full of color, patterns, and beautiful architecture. This eclectic hotel wedding venue has tons of unique decor, and colors throughout that make it so interesting visually. Having a Hotel Peter and Paul wedding includes a jaw-dropping cathedral filled with stained-glass windows which pour light into the room. The couple used this space for both the ceremony and reception.
While exchanging their vows Mani said to Asia, “You are my religion,” which she then quoted the rest of the evening. The bride and groom closed out their ceremony by “jumping the broom” down the aisle during the recessional. For the reception, the guests sat at round candlelit tables while the bride and groom shared a gorgeous sweethearts table on the stage.
Following dinner, the bride surprised everyone by changing into a pink mini-dress and joined her dad for a Father Daughter dance wearing roller skates! The two pushed through the crowd of guests and skated through the entire cathedral before heading to the dance floor. Everyone cheered as they skated around to Alicia Myers “I Want To Thank You.” According to Asia, the father-daughter skate was one of the most memorable parts of the day: “That was a big deal for me and so much fun!”
Part of the couple’s inspiration in selecting Hotel Peter and Paul New Orleans as their wedding venue was their shared adoration of film wedding photography. Incorporating film and even adding polaroids into their photography coverage was what tied it all together!
Asia is a non-traditional bride who wanted more editorial style images and adores the look and feel of film. This inspiration also stemmed from the bride’s parent’s wedding which was captured on film and saved in a cherished album.
I just loved the couple’s sweet spirits and how much they trusted their vendors. These two carefully selected all of their vendors, as they had been patiently awaiting this day for so long. The bride just gushed over the vendors of the day: “We loved how talented, nice and authentic our vendors were. I couldn’t have been more happy. I loved them so much that I’d like to work with them again one day.” Here’s to hoping this comes true!
