Romantic Malibu Engagement Photos

These Malibu engagement photos turned out even better than I imagined. When Nia reached out, she knew she wanted old hollywood style engagement photos in Malibu. I was so excited and I knew this shoot was going to be unreal! We wanted to shoot some direct flash engagement photos so we got up before sunrise, Nila got her hair and makeup done and we met up in the dark! 

We met at a beachfront villa in Malibu where Nia used to live and where she raised one of her children. It was the perfect location in Malibu for these elegant engagement photos with both ocean and mountain views. The long pool, palm trees, old fountain, and white railings were so romantic and fit the look we were going for perfectly. They brought along a vintage red mustang (which was actually Alan’s grandfathers) and we centered the shoot around that. It was so special and a great way to honor family within their engagement photos!

 Nia and Alan styled the session on their own and they understood the vision and orchestrated it perfectly. Nia wore a silk set and Alan was in a black suit which worked so perfectly! They changed outfits and they wanted a ton of blurred photos which I LOVE and I had so much fun with it! At the very end of the session, they jumped in the pool! It was so much fun shooting Nia and Alan’s Malibu Engagement Photos. They were so carefree and trusted the whole process! They were seriously so in love which always help create beautiful authentic photos. Alan treated Nia like a queen and it was super special to witness their love and hear more of their story!

Nia + Alan’s Love Story

Nia cofounded a restaurant called Sugar Taco in Malibu. After ignoring someone’s suggestion to hire Alan, she finally hired Alan as her head chef! That’s how they met and fell in love! Nia love’s Alan’s patience, his slowness to anger, his easygoing and calming presence, how kind he is to others, how he loves to make others happy, what an incredible father he is. When I asked Nia what her relationship was like and she said it feels “like coming home”. Their love is so sweet and I am grateful to capture these special moment for them!
